2024 Transparency data

As we look back on 2024, I’m struck by how much compassion flows through this community. Thanks to you, 1,653 animals found safety at the Lewis & Clark Humane Society this year—1,252 of them went on to new homes through adoption, 497 were reunited with their families, and 122 community cats were helped through trap-neuter-return. Along the way, our team performed 913 spay/neuter surgeries and provided vaccines and other services that keep pets healthy and out of the shelter.

Behind every number is a face and a story, and our promise to each of them remains the same: LCHS will be a safe, humane place for as long as they need us. In 2024 we maintained an impressive 98% save rate, saving every animal that we were able to. None of this would be possible without our 24 dedicated staff members, whose more than 150 combined years of animal-welfare experience are powered by your belief in this work.

We are also proud to steward your gifts carefully. In 2024, LCHS received $1.5 million in income and support, and nearly 78% of every dollar spent went directly to animal programs, with the remainder invested in fundraising and responsible management so we can keep saying “yes” to the animals who need us most—now and for years to come.

Thank you for standing with us, for trusting us with your generosity, and for helping create a more humane community for people and pets alike.

With sincere gratitude,

Kelsee Dalton Watts, Executive Director
Lewis & Clark Humane Society Board of Directors
